We were pleased to be a part of commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Dambusters raid in 1943, by creating two beautiful hand constructed jackets in which we designed with the clients on their preferences and collaborated with Black Star Brands to generate an aviation themed bespoke printed lining. They were to be worn at an event at the Royal Albert Hall featuring historians Dan Snow and Paul beaver.

We'd thought we'd clue you up on a little bit of the history. On 16-17 May 1943, the Royal Air Force's 617 Squadron carried out a dangerous move bombing raid that attacked the dams in the Ruhr valley, leaving German factories and mines badly damaged which gave us largely the upper hand in the second world war at the time.

Royal Blue Huddersfield Fine Worsted flannel wool cloth, with dark navy velvet collar, a peaked lapel, high angled pockets with flaps; all hand stitched with McCann Bespoke Buttons.

Below you can see the printed graphic lining in its entirety. From its initial graphic design to the silk sensation printed cloth, with each panel being matched up, and each part of the design being match to a specific area of the jacket e.g the vents, inside pocket etc.

Here are some photos from the event itself which included showing the screening of the newly restored classic British film 'The Dambusters' directed by Michael Anderson staring Sir Michael Redgrae and Richard Todd which will in 4K definition on a huge 40ft screen for all viewers, friends, families, admirers to fully experience in the Royal Albert hall.

The evening was hosted by Dan Snow in which he paid tribute to Wing commander Guy Gibson and his comrades in which he wore the striking royal blue wool . Along side music from Glenn Miller Orchestra for a most enjoyable evening.
